Mounting device for cylinder heads

An assembly system for cylinder heads was developed and integrated to assemble cylinder liners and valve seat rings made of ceramic material into the heads, with automatic positioning and fixing, supported by a robot and magazine systems; the system is designed for three-shift operation.

Task:

Based on partially existing drawings of a system for assembling cylinder liners and valve seat rings made of ceramic material, this system must be completely planned and integrated into an existing production system with the help of a robot.

Solution:

The heads coming from the production line's washing system are transported into the system on a conveyor belt. There they are automatically positioned and clamped. The rings are fed via stacking magazines and the bushes via drum magazines.

Liners and rings are pressed into the cylinder heads and fixed in place with an adhesive. After the press-fit process, the cylinder heads are picked up by the robot and placed in a semi-circular magazine for curing. The robot then removes the parts from the magazine and stacks them.

The system is designed for three-shift operation.
