Steering gear test bench with double drive shaft

The steering gear test bench with double drive shaft enables manual and computer-controlled function tests on mechanical and hydraulic steering gears, including rack and pinion and recirculating ball steering systems. The clamping fixtures and docking units offer flexibility for model changes. The test bench is equipped with two measuring lines to measure torques ranging from 0.5 Nm to 750 Nm and enables a variety of functional tests, including steering angle, pressure, leakage oil loss and strength tests.

This test bench carries out manual and computer-controlled functional tests on mechanical and hydraulic steering gears. Both rack and pinion and recirculating ball steering systems can be tested.

Convenient clamping devices and docking units offer high flexibility for changing models.

In order to achieve the required accuracy and the required maximum forces for the frictional torque and the breaking torque of the steering, the test bench is equipped with two measuring lines. Torques of around 0.5 Nm to 50 Nm are measured in the small measuring line. The large measuring line measures torques up to 750 Nm.

For testing hydraulic steering systems, the test stand can be equipped with an adjustable oil supply unit as well as with a holder and drive for the original oil pump.

The following function tests can be carried out:

  • Steering angle
  • Steering distance
  • Pressure (hydraulically adjustable)
  • Leakage oil loss
  • Hydropulse frequency
  • Game measurement
  • Steering torque characteristic
  • Frictional torque characteristic
  • Pressure-steering wheel torque characteristic
  • Rack displacement force characteristic curve
  • Pressure clearance
  • Socket clearance
  • Dynamic pinion torque

Manual and computer-controlled strength testing:

  • Input torque test according to regulation
  • Input torque test until failure
